Sony has launched a PlayStation hardware leasing service called "Flex" which will be a new way for gamers to get a PS5, PS5 Pro, PSVR2 and other official PlayStation devices without paying the full price upfront. Instead of buying the console all at once, players only in the United Kingdom can now pay a monthly fee and use the device as long as they keep the lease active. There is no big upfront payment required, and customers can choose flexible contract lengths (like 12, 24 or 36-month plans) or a rolling monthly plan that can be canceled at any time.
How Leasing PlayStation Hardware Works:
First, a user needs to pick a device; it can be anything - PS5, PS5 Pro, PlayStation Portal, PSVR2, DualSense Edge controller, and more. Secondly, choose a plan that you can cancel anytime as well. You don’t pay the full retail price at once; you play games, download titles from PS Store, and enjoy PS Plus benefits if you subscribe.
You can return the device, keep paying monthly, or upgrade when your lease ends. Purchasing the hardware outright at the end may require a separate deal with the leasing partner (Raylo).
This program was started in March 2025 in the UK and is available right now. However, Sony hasn't announced its plans for the other countries to release this program. This program is offered through the official PlayStation Direct UK website, in partnership with the leasing company Raylo.

Hardware You Can Lease or Buy at Once:
- PS5 Digital Edition: whose retail price is approx. £389.99 can be leased for just £10.99/month (in 36-month term) and £21.95/month for monthly rolling.
- PS5 Standard (Disc Drive): whose retail price is approx. £479.99 can be leased for just £11.99/month (in 36-month term) and £23.59/month for monthly payment.
- PS5 Pro: whose retail price is approx. £699.99 can now be leased for just £18.95/month (in 36-month term) and £35.59/month for monthly rolling.
- PlayStation Portal: whose retail price is approx. £199.99 can now be leased for just £6.49/month (in 36-month term) and £13.99/month for month-to-month payment.
- PS VR2 headset: the retail price is approx. £399.99 can now be leased for just £18.49/month (in 36-month term) and £51.49/month for monthly payment.
- DualSense Edge Wireless Controller: the retail price is approx. £199.99 can now be leased for just £7.49/month and £20.59/month for monthly rolling.
However, these lease prices are UK specific as PlayStation Flex is currently only offered in the United Kingdom through Raylo. With Flex, you're more like a long-term renter, similar to leasing electronics from a tech subscription service. Similar plans in the past (like Xbox All Access) offered ownership at the end, but Sony's model doesn’t clearly guarantee that, you might have to contact Raylo to buy the device at lease end.
Anyways, what do you guys think of this Sony's program - "Flex"? What's your experience by renting one of the PlayStation products under this program? Let us know all your answers in the comments, where you can also provide the latest news so I can make a breakdown of it.
