Recently, "Xbox Game Pass" and "Netflix bundle" talks have officially entered the public conversation. On March 24, 2026, a report from "The Information" revealed that new Xbox CEO "Asha Sharma" has already held discussions with Netflix co-CEO "Greg Peters" about a potential Netflix Xbox subscription bundle. Peters has also confirmed these conversations, saying the two executives have "kicked around ideas" about combining Xbox Game Pass and Netflix into a single, unified subscription.

However, no deal has been signed and no official announcement has been made. Peters himself stated that there are "no solid plans" at this stage, but he also said he "wouldn't eliminate any possibilities."

The reason?

In October 2025, Microsoft raised the price of "Xbox Game Pass Ultimate" by whopping 50 percent, pushing it from $19.99 to $29.99 per month. This price hike triggered immediate backlash across Reddit, YouTube, and gaming forums worldwide, with posts like "Goodbye Game Pass" and "Ultimate downgrade confirmed" trending within hours of this announcement.

A "Circana" survey conducted in Q3 2025 found that 58% of U.S.-based players who cancelled their Game Pass subscriptions cited the inability to justify the subscription cost as their primary reason. The cancellation page also reportedly crashed due to high traffic. Former Xbox co-founder "Laura Fryer" publicly stated that the price increase "destroyed the one advantage Xbox fans could cling to."

Facing this declining subscriber base, Asha Sharma stepped into her new role with a clear strategy, which is to rebuild trust and make "Xbox Game Pass" more affordable and attractive to a broader range of consumers. The Information report reveals that Sharma is exploring a full Game Pass pricing revamp, which includes cheaper lower-tier plans, a potential ad-supported Game Pass tier (similar to what Netflix and Spotify already offer), and the possibility of a Netflix and Xbox bundle deal.

Peters elaborated on the bundle concept, explaining that "you would have to do it in a way that works for the consumer and works for both companies," adding, "it's all about, How do we do more?" If Netflix Xbox Game Pass combined subscription becomes reality, then there will be huge benefits for the consumers.

Bundling two of the most popular entertainment services into one payment would simplify bills and likely offer better value per dollar. A gaming and streaming bundle in 2026 from two of the biggest names in entertainment could redefine how people think about digital entertainment subscriptions.

For Xbox Game Pass subscribers, the bundle could effectively justify the controversial $30/month Ultimate price, especially if Netflix were included at a discounted or bundled rate. Netflix has also been quietly building its own gaming library over the past few years.

Audience Response:

Audience reaction to the idea has been decidedly mixed but generally curious. On gaming forums and social platforms, many users have responded positively to the "Netflix Game Pass" bundle news, calling it "the only thing that could make $30/month worth it." Others, however, are more skeptical. There is still a common concern on platforms like "Pure Xbox" and "Reddit," and that is, bundling Netflix into Ultimate would likely push the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price even higher, not lower.

One commentator said clearly: "Sure, there may be a saving over Ultimate ($23) and Netflix ($6), and we might be offered them both for $27 — but personally, I already have Netflix bundled with my Sky subscription." There are also valid questions about tier flexibility, such as: would subscribers be able to opt out of Netflix if they don't want it, or would the bundle be forced?

Anyways, what are your thoughts regarding to the plans of Asha Sharma and Greg Peters? Do you think it is a good idea to justify the price of the subscription? Let me know all your answers in the comments, where you can also provide the latest news so I can make a breakdown of it.
