The GTA 6 PC release date has been one of the most searched gaming questions of 2026, and recently, a new rumour is giving PC gamers the most concrete timeline yet. According to gaming insider "DetectiveSeeds," who contacted over 90 former Rockstar Games employees via LinkedIn, three of them confirmed that "Grand Theft Auto VI" is aiming to release its PC version in February 2027.
The insider, DetectiveSeeds, is considered a prolific GTA 6 leaker, and the claim places the GTA 6 Steam release just roughly three months after the confirmed console launch. All three sources reportedly told DetectiveSeeds that while the timeline could shift, both Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games wanted to get the game out before the end of their fiscal year, which closes in March 2027.
DetectiveSeeds did not use easy channels. Instead, he reached out to 90 people via LinkedIn, and only three responded; yet their information matched. That consistency across independent sources lends the claim more weight than a single anonymous tip. However, no documentary evidence was attached to the claim, and also, Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed any PC version of GTA 6 exists, let alone a release date for it.
For PC players who have waited more than a decade since GTA V launched on consoles in 2013, this is either the best news of 2026 or just a rumour built to be disappointingly crushed. Because, in history of Rockstar Games, GTA IV took about 7 months to reach PC after consoles, and GTA V made PC gamers wait over 18 months before finally arriving in April 2015. A just three month gap for GTA VI, which faced two major delays on PC by the way would be unprecedented for Rockstar.
Signs That Point Toward This Rumour:
Several indirect signals have emerged in recent months that lend some credibility to the February 2027 timeline, even if none of them constitute the official confirmation. Digital retailer Loaded accidentally revealed alleged pricing for GTA 6, showing both a standard console edition and a separate PC version price, suggesting the PC version is already being treated as a distinct product in commercial planning.
The existence of a PC-specific listing on a third-party retail platform implies that behind the scenes, a PC version is being prepared for sale. The reasoning behind the February 2027 window also makes financial sense. Rockstar and Take-Two would want to maximise profits, and GTA VI is expected to make millions in just its first couple of weeks of release. This means that releasing the PC version of GTA 6 before March 2027 would allow the company to book those revenues within the same fiscal year, which is a powerful incentive for a publicly traded company with investors to satisfy.
While DetectiveSeeds points to a February 2027 release, respected gaming insider Tom Henderson had previously suggested Rockstar was planning a PC release in autumn 2027, which still represents a dramatically shorter wait compared to prior GTA entries. Also, industry analysts have noted that unlike previous GTA entries, Rockstar may have already locked in and finished most of the work for all three platforms simultaneously.
The rumour also implicitly suggests that a widely speculated Sony PlayStation timed exclusivity deal for GTA VI may not exist or at least not extend to delaying PC. The February 2027 PC target could mean that the speculation about a Sony marketing deal locking out the PC players is untrue.
