The Indian Parliament has officially passed the new bill related to Gaming in India, and the main aim to make these new rules was for a proper 'Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming' in India. This bill provides a licensing framework for esports platforms, social gaming apps, and related services while also placing strict monitoring mechanisms to ensure compliance. This bill sets clear age restrictions, player protection guidelines, and penalties for violations and the most important thing? the legislation now bans 'real-money gaming' and the promotion and regulations of such services and this move immediately impacted several gaming companies too.


The Reason For This Bill?

Many Lawmakers argued that the large and continuous growth of online gaming in India created both opportunities and as well as risks for the people, but the rapidly growth of 'esports' and 'casual gaming' now have the potential to make India a global hub for digital entertainment and also for facing many challenges in global gaming event. And that's why the government is now trying to stop real-money gaming due to it's serious addiction and this further leads to financial distress, and mental health risks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also emphasized that this bill reflects India’s vision to balance  digital entertainment in all around the world with responsibility and to safeguard citizens while also nurturing the gaming sector’s economic potential.
