Nvidia reportedly will not launch new gaming graphics cards in 2026. This might be the first calendar year without a new GeForce release in over three decades. This situation has occurred due to global memory chip shortage issues which are highly demanded by AI data centers. Reports from industry sources, including The Information and major tech outlets, indicate that Nvidia has delayed its plans for the RTX 50-series Super refresh and may even push the next-generation RTX 60 Series out of mass production until late 2027. Limited GDDR6/GDDR7 memory supply is forcing Nvidia to prioritize high-margin AI accelerators over consumer desktop GPUs.

Speaking of the core reason behind this shift, it is the global shortage of memory chips that Nvidia needs to build its modern graphics cards. We also know that the Memory chip demand has skyrocketed recently because of the massive growth and demand in AI applications and data centers. In simple, AI hardware requires huge amounts of GDDR6, GDDR7, DDR5, and DRAM components, and obviously, companies are willing to pay premium prices to secure these parts as soon as they can.

Many companies such as AMD and Intel have been affected, and this situation has now also impacted Nvidia's gaming plan for this year. Multiple reports claim Nvidia could reduce its GPU output by 30–40%, especially for mid-range models like the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5070 Ti. Currently, AI chips are generating more revenue and having higher margins than gaming GPUs, so Nvidia is also allocating memory resources to servers and AI accelerators first. There is high chance that RTX 50 Super Series might be delayed.

Official figures vary, but analysts and supply-chain data shows a clear picture of how the memory shortage impacts the graphics market.

Production Declines and Increases in Price:
Nvidia is reportedly planning for 30–40% fewer GPU units in early 2026 compared to the previous year. Mid-range GPUs using GDDR7 memory (RTX 5060 Ti, RTX 5070 Ti) are also expected to be most affected. Memory prices (GDDR, DRAM) have surged due to constrained supply, in some segments rising by ~40% or more year-over-year.

SSD and overall PC component costs are also climbing, amplifying inflationary pressure on GPUs. Even Flagship GPUs, like the RTX 5090, are already experiencing street price increases well above MSRP, with projections suggesting they may continue to rise through 2026.

Memory Chip Supply:
GDDR7 availability is tight now, and slower new memory fab capacity has also reduced outputs destined for consumer graphics cards. Major memory makers like Micron have shifted focus to higher-value markets.

This situation can also impact Gamers, Users and PC Builders, because people looking to buy perfect GPUs in this year 2026 may face limited stock, higher street prices, and fewer budget options. Mid-range cards, which usually offer the best price-to-performance, are expected to be hardest hit first.

With no major GeForce release in 2026 and a potential next launch delayed into late 2027, users may need to wait three years between major GPU updates. Supply issues could push more gamers to the used GPU market or console platforms, and prebuilt PC prices are rising as component costs spread across entire systems.

Anyways, what are your thoughts on recent reports and plans of Nvidia? What are the issues are you facing due to the shortage and increase in prices of Memory chips and various Graphics cards?
